Each school is supported by an active Parent Association dedicated to the following:
- To support and enrich the education of our children
- To provide a channel of communication between the home and the school
- To foster a sense of community spirit
- To sponsor fund raising projects that generate money for enrichment activities, equipment, and academic needs that otherwise might not be available.
Parent Associations are typically funded though the annual Walkathon and through sales of Mattawan logo merchandise at sporting and school sponsored events, but given these events did not take place in 2020, MEEPA, MLEAP, MSPA and MHSPA have been added to the Day of Giving.
Parent Associations support field trips and assemblies that enhance learning, resources and materials for classrooms, and teacher appreciation activities as requested by building administration and teachers. In addition, MHSPA typically raises funds toward Grad Bash and various scholarship and program requests.
Funds raised through the Day of Giving will be distributed equally between the four buildings’ parent associations. The hope is that the 2021-22 school year will allow a return of Walkathon and events where merchandise can be sold.
