The Student Activities and Athletics Program is an integral part of the total school educational program. Mattawan Middle School embraces the importance of providing a well-balanced activities program to augment the learning activities of the classroom. Student Activities and Athletics Programs teach and reinforce, through empirical learning, lessons consistent with the MCS student achievement goals of academics, essential life skills and responsibility to the community. Life lessons such as teamwork, goal-setting, time-management, sportsmanship, commitment, and leadership are taught through daily experiences and prepare students for future life challenges. Opportunities are provided at all levels and include participation in activities such as performing arts and opportunities for student growth and enrichment through athletics.
Physicals must be dated on or after April 15 of the previous school year in order to be valid for following school year participation. For example, a physical must be dated April 15, 2019, or later to be good for the 2019-20 school year. All student-athletes must have a valid physical and consent form on file in the Student Resource Center prior to tryouts or participation in any Middle School sports activity.
