Girls on the Run
Girls on the run is a national program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Enrollment is voluntary and all girls are eligible to participate, although the girls are selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students may choose to walk or jog on the track during lunch/recess. Miles walked are recorded and rewarded with a variety of incentives, including water bottles, frisbees, t-shirts, sweatshirts and other Later Elementary collectibles. Parents/guardians are always welcome to join their child and improve their fitness, too.
Learning happens in, and outside of the classroom, and beyond. Student clubs allow Mattawan Wildcats opportunities to meet new friends, explore talents, learn new skills, and have some fun. We encourage students to get involved in an extracurricular experience to find what piques their interest outside of the school day.
